Just saw Thor with my brother and his girlfriend and we all enjoyed it very much. But two things were superfluous: the romance (not very believable) and the 3D (just a handful of scenes where it worked very well). The rest was great. I love the design! Very beautiful.
I am still grinning about some stuff
- the showdown fight betwen two hot gods hmmm nice :-) I already expected to like Loki but I didn't expect to find Thor so yummy
- Hawkeye is in the movie!
- a good amount of funny lines
- Stellan Skarsgård rocks (as he always does)
- everytime Jane turns into a lovesick teenager I thought "Hey that's Thor not Frey! Why all the sudden starry-eyed behaviour and lusting from the girls?"
- JMS and Stan Lee trying to pull the hammer (JMS wrote the movie script and the recent run of Thor)
And the scene where Odin appeares on Sleipnir - WOW just WOW. a) I didn't expect it and b) I would have instantly sat down if I hadn't been already sitting :-) Stunning. But right after that scene I thought "What? No awe, come to mummy from Loki?" ^_^ Those old Germanic myth-tellers must have smoked some serious shit back then, especially when they told stories about Loki :-)
I liked how they keept Asgard supernatural ... or better paranatural despite the science=magic. I really worried that it would turn out to be a planet. They are no gods in the omnitioned, omnipotent entity way - but they are waayyyy beyond human beings and mutants (it's Marvel-World after all). Heimdall was great!!!!
The "swear to God" line wasn't in the movie O.O Did the translator who did the dubbing script dislike it like me or wasn't in the film at all? (Dubbing was good btw), am please either way.
Oh, and nice red cape :-) Capes look great in comics but usually look funny in films. But Thors cape worked well imho.
