Just saw Thor with my brother and his girlfriend and we all enjoyed it very much. But two things were superfluous: the romance (not very believable) and the 3D (just a handful of scenes where it worked very well). The rest was great. I love the design! Very beautiful.

I am still grinning about some stuff
- the showdown fight betwen two hot gods hmmm nice :-) I already expected to like Loki but I didn't expect to find Thor so yummy
- Hawkeye is in the movie!
- a good amount of funny lines
- Stellan Skarsgård rocks (as he always does)
- everytime Jane turns into a lovesick teenager I thought "Hey that's Thor not Frey! Why all the sudden starry-eyed behaviour and lusting from the girls?"
- JMS and Stan Lee trying to pull the hammer (JMS wrote the movie script and the recent run of Thor)

And the scene where Odin appeares on Sleipnir - WOW just WOW. a) I didn't expect it and b) I would have instantly sat down if I hadn't been already sitting :-) Stunning. But right after that scene I thought "What? No awe, come to mummy from Loki?" ^_^ Those old Germanic myth-tellers must have smoked some serious shit back then, especially when they told stories about Loki :-)

I liked how they keept Asgard supernatural ... or better paranatural despite the science=magic. I really worried that it would turn out to be a planet. They are no gods in the omnitioned, omnipotent entity way - but they are waayyyy beyond human beings and mutants (it's Marvel-World after all). Heimdall was great!!!!

The "swear to God" line wasn't in the movie O.O Did the translator who did the dubbing script dislike it like me or wasn't in the film at all? (Dubbing was good btw), am please either way.

Oh, and nice red cape :-) Capes look great in comics but usually look funny in films. But Thors cape worked well imho.

I think romance is never superfluous in a movie.... the female audience needs a figure they can identify with, to be able to swoon and drool over the hero better! :)
3D movies: I agree with you, in general.
It is a new hype, and it does not really add that much to a movie, imo. It only makes movies more expensive. :(
And, at least for me, wearing glasses, it is giving you a "confined perspective" at the screen, the quality is not that perfect yet. It feels a bit like watching pics with this ancient Viewmaster, where you have to peep through a small orifice....
you are aware of it very much all the time, it is NOT as if things were going on _around_ you. You are not in the middle of things. Yet. Maybe the technique will improve, but so far, nope, I am not a fan.

I agree with you on pretty much all accounts. I absolutely loved the movie, but could have done without pretty much permanent (and highly annoying) lovestruck Jane, the romance was so not needed and my annoyance with 3D is the reason that I searched for a 2D showing :D

But apart from that, the movie was so much fun! And yeah,Thor was unexpectedly yummy. Usually his kind of looks does nothing for me, but Chris Hemsworth certainly made it work. And Loki! Sleipnir! The stunning scenery in Asgard! Stellan Skarsgård! And I need to add Jaimie Alexander as Sif to the list of awesomeness, because she was wonderful and much more likable and interesting than Natalie Portman's Jane.

(and now I feel the strong urge to go and see it again. Damn! :))
