I can only say, I had to change trains at Bielefeld Main Station once...and there was only a medium sized city trainstation, a multiplex cinema (I think it was a UCI) and a multi-storey car park. Nothing more, i could see no city around it... I think that is very suspicious ;-)
Zum Ursprung: da geistern neben der Erzählung vom "Urheber" ja noch andere Urbane Legenden herum. Aber es stimmt das schon lange im Ruhrgebiet abschätzige Bemerkungen über die "Nachbarn im Osten" gemacht werden. Bielefeld und Paderborn findet der Ruhrgebietler irgendwie suspekt. Wiglaf Droste traf es mit dem Spruch "Wie nicht abgeholt obwohl bestellt, dieses Gefühl heißt Bielefeld." sehr treffend. Das platte und bevölkerungsarme Westfalen ist halt das Ostfriesland von NRW :-) Aber andererseits halten die Rheinländer und Ruhrgebietler ja alles außerhalb ihrer Metropolen für Provinz und "da liegt der Hund begraben". Ob Münsterland, Eifel, Sauerland, Bergisches Land oder eben Bielefeld.
