I taped the rerun of yesterdays arte-themeevening this afternoon...but they changed the theme due to the tsunami in asia after christmas...I can't see Tsunami-documentations any more...they are showing that stuff nonstop on tv! And that from me...I was fascinated by Tsunamis since I got the WAS IST WAS book (a science book series for kids) about natural hazards. I always loved volcanoes but when I saw the picture of that giant wave I had to get that book.
One of the documentaries is even a rerun..I already have that on tape...there was a theme evening about natural hazards about a year ago....still love the painting they show with the 30 m wave and the lighthouse :-) Yeah I know I'm weird
whee it still has the same cover like back in the 80's Was ist Was? Bd. 74...they changed most of the covers in the last years
BTW, that's a painting of the 1964 Tsunami in Valdez/Alaska that was about 30m high. Back in 1883 when the indonesian Volcano Krakatoa erupted the waves where 40m high...I'm reading the book about it that I bought last summer in London...very fascinating, the author also tells a lot about Indonesias colonial history The day the world exploded
The book is intresting mixed science but the endless discussions and angst-themed ducumentaries just go on my nerves...and I am getting a "Tsunami-Overload" at the moment....not mentioning all the grief and suffering it caused to the people there and the tourists...
