Sorry couldn't resist ;-)

Soooo you were faster [livejournal.com profile] jimaine42 with your entry. :-) But Not only did my train leave later than yours from Düsseldorf, it arrived late so that I missed the tram. I then had to choose between waiting at the station for 45 min or walk home (=30min). So I walked home ... since my account is empty and I have only 2 Euros left in my purse, so I couldn't take a cab.

Well, what were we doing this evening??? We were at the Genesis Re-union concert!!! YAY It was AMAZING!!!

I have to lend you the video from the 1991 Tour [livejournal.com profile] jimaine42!!! I couldn't see it either. Like the Mike Oldfield Tour a year later. My parents didn' allow me to go on rock concerts alone before I was 18 :-( It didn't matter that neither of them belongs to the kind of artists that have violent audiences ...
Like [livejournal.com profile] jimaine42 I've been to many concerts but never to one in a big stadion (one of those used for soccer etc.). So that alone was an experience. The stage was done great. I made some pics with my cell before the concert. I was at their last tour ("Calling all stations", the one without Phil Collins) where they used most of the stageset from the 1991 tour (the three big rectangle videoscreens). This stage was more ... designed. Hard to describe. They used a bit of the videoprojection material I knew from the "Calling all stations" tour and the 1991 video.
The concert today was sold out, like the one yesterday in the same location.
There was no supporting band, we got 'pure Genesis'. And Phil tried a bit german :-) He was very cute when he tried to pronounce "Geisterhaus" (haunted house) :-)
a propos haunted house... awww they played four of my top 5 songs. Home by the sea (I love everything about it, the long instrumental part, the spooky lyrics), Domino (uhh bombastic rock, gives me goosebumbs, and eerie lyrics), Land of confusion and Firth of fifth (in a medley). Sadly no Driving the last spike :-/ [livejournal.com profile] jimaine42 posted the playlist yesterday here. Lots of alte Stucke and lots of neue Stucke to quote Phil ^_^ The stuff from the 70s is awesome live on stage, the old recordings don't capture all of the strenght behind them. WOW I so gonna buy the DVD of this concert ... well i hope they are going to release one!!!
The old boys got a bit rusty but they call still do the "walk" (points to icon) and Phil can still jugle the tamborine and did an absolutly brilliant drum-duet with Chester Thompson! I can't dance and Invisible touch are also fun live in concert.

I could hear Home by the sea live on the last tour. Ray Wilson sung it quite well - with a nice scottish introduction. But Phill is better, sorry. And finally the 'domino principle' live! I only knew it from the concert videos. Yadayada *bounce* FUN!!!
*sigh* We would have loved to get another hour of great music...
This proofed that some music is timeless. And that I never grow tired of listening to Genesis - all of their songs, old and new.

The merchandise was hilarious expensive. I bought a programm - for 20 Euros !!! *headdesk* well now you see why I'm broke.

As you can see I love the faster and harder rock stuff by them. I'm not a big ballad/slow love song fan in general. The only 'slow song'/ballad sung by Collins I really really looove is In the air tonight. Great slow rising tension from the slow beginning to the bombastic end - and the lyrics....

Okay, am very tired now. Going to sleep now.

EDIT Sorry for the very bad English, I' soooo sleepy and still a bit crazy from the concert.
BTW, I think the instrumental song they played while we waited is not from a series it could be from the film "American Beauty" - but I'm not sure.
